Once the mixture reaches a thick, pudding-like consistency, remove it from the heat and stir in the food coloring if desired. Pour the mixture into a greased pan lined with parchment paper and smooth the top with a spatula. Let it cool and set at room temperature for a few hours or overnight.

Once the Turkish Delight has set, dust a cutting board with powdered sugar and invert the pan onto the board to release the Turkish Delight. Cut it into bite-sized pieces using a sharp knife and dust each piece with more powdered sugar to prevent sticking.
